Term 2 Overview
This term involves the Year 5/6 children taking a step back in time to unravel the mysteries of Ancient Egypt and walk like an Egyptian. All three 5/6 classes are discovering ; 

  1. the geography of the Nile river in Ancient Egpyt.
  2. the customs of the Ancient Egyptian culture.
  3. the burial practices of the Ancient Egyptians.
  4. the religious practices of the Ancient Egyptians and
  5. the Ancient Egyptian way to communicate. 

Students are also striving to reign over Egypt as Pharaoh though the gain and loss of precious stones. According to the number of stones they have, students will move up and down the ‘Pyramid of Power’, through the in-class Egyptian social simulation. 

In addition other events occurring are Cross Country, Public Education Day, Grand-friends Day and other sport competitions scheduled in the coming weeks. Also throughout the term all classes are involved with the Footsteps Dance Program where they participate in a range of dance genre once a week on Tuesdays. 

The year 5/6 children are involved in a lunch time Oz tag competition where they are in mixed teams and play a non contact sport. 

Some selected year 5/6 children play in the year 5 and year 6 bands twice a week. 

Furthermore in Term 2 all children are participating in the Rostrum public Speaking competition, which culminates on Public Education day with the annual school finals.
